Reflection for reflective writing and lifelong learning
Welcome to a mind-expanding trip down the rabbit hole into the wonderful world of reflective writing, as I try to answer the age old question, “So what really did just happen?” Be prepared for this to go from the mundane to the surreal and back again. Reflection tends to be like that – you feel like your mind is about to come apart at the seams only for everything to come into clearer focus than before.
Crafting@Lunch is a joyful initiative led by Emma Rogers, member of the professional services team in the CCi Faculty. It offers a weekly opportunity for members of staff and friends of the Faculty to get together for a relaxing hour of craft, conversation and biscuits.
It has long been known that body and mind are inseparable. The body resonates with what arises in the heart-mind, and the mind watches and responds to tension and relaxation in the body. This is why exercise is touted as a great way to release stress. Some also argue that it was the original meaning of many martial arts. One man who traced Shaolin Kung Fu and Karate-Do back to their Buddhist roots has rediscovered the origins of karate-do as an exercise in treating external forces in the same way as internal thoughts, learning to touch them lightly and let them go without struggle or development.
If you haven't discovered the wonderful world of zines, you're really missing out. Zines are small-scale productions exploring subjects of interest in new and original ways. Fanzines explore all manner of topics of interest, offering often subversive insights and alternative narratives.
