Holding Events and Workshops in the Library v.6
For people and organisations not part of the University, we are pleased to offer a large room (known as 0.26) for the hosting of events and workshops appropriate to a library or education environment. Full details of the room facilities are available and there is guest WiFi access, but please note, only the teaching PC can be used for events and workshops. Arrangements for holding an event or workshop will be negotiated on a case by case basis and we will charge, for example, for cleaning, in certain circumstances.
Library opening hours vary during the year and the Library is generally quieter during the Christmas and Summer vacations. The room is not available during times of high demand from students and staff, normally October/November and April/May. The Library building has access control through turnstiles and where possible, a list of attendees may be required in advance. This will be held at Reception to help us to issue passes to visitors, enabling them to move in and out of the building efficiently.
There are no facilities for cash handling and you would need to make your own arrangements for catering. There is a University policy on alcohol on the premises: "Within the range of University activities there are times where alcohol is available at staff and student events. Great care should be taken in planning events to respect the views of anyone who does not drink or does not wish to drink alcohol, and non-alcoholic drinks must always be made available."
