Research Outputs Team

The Research Outputs Team is responsible for providing support for researchers and academics. We are based in the Library and work closely with the department of Research and Innovation Services (RIS) and we provide help and support across a range of research-related areas.

Dr Gary Pike, Research Data Officer

My role involves providing general guidance on Research Data Management, advice and feedback for Data Management Plans (DMPs) for research projects (both external funding applications and internal projects) and datasets in Pure. Please contact me at researchdata@port.ac.uk for any research data related queries.

Dr Andrew Clark, Research Outputs Officer

I support metadata validation for research outputs added to Pure and provide advice on the publishing lifecycle in academic journals. Publication types in scope of Open Access (OA) policy compliance of research funders, in particular for the REF and UKRI, are prioritised in the validation process - which involves monitoring this compliance against the legal requirements of publisher copyright. I support Gold OA publishing by coordinating the University's Article Processing Charges (APC) application process and also the OA approval process for large-scale APC agreements that the University has with publishers. For advice relating to OA compliance, OA publishing, the publishing lifecycle, publisher copyright or adding research outputs in Pure, please contact me at openaccess@port.ac.uk

Soozi Mead, Research Outputs Assistant

I ensure the University’s research outputs, shared via the Portsmouth Research Portal, comply with copyright and licensing laws. I align diverse stakeholders’ interests, including those of the University, funders, publishers, researchers and readers, whilst meeting the Open Access compliance requirements of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and the Research Excellence Framework (REF). Please contact me at openaccess@port.ac.uk if you have any queries related to open access.

Liz Brindley, Research Outputs Manager

As well as providing guidance on Open Access and Research Data, I can also assist with any specialist research related questions such as finding resources for your research, research metrics, research IDs such as ORCIDs and DOIs, choosing which journal to publish in, finding full-text articles and PhD theses and promoting your research to the wider world. Please contact me on libraryresearch@port.ac.uk if you require any help.
