These are designed to bring together published research (articles, conference papers, possibly books) across defined areas. You can then use their sophisticated search options to find articles written on specific subjects/topics.

The following databases are suggested as good starting points for finding Marketing, Advertising & Sales  materials. This list is not exhaustive, and you may find other databases more suited to your needs.

Use this database to find articles about the wider aspects of economics and business e.g. banking, finance and international trade, note the inclusion of country overviews, market reports and company swot analysis. Unlike EconLit this database includes trade and professional journals as well as academic peer reviewed journals so do take care to assess each publication you may find.

Good place to search for articles from professional journals not found on Google Scholar as well as academic articles. Click on the peer-reviewed button if you only want academic articles.

A key source for tracking down articles on a broad range of journalism and media topics.

Full text from around 380 journals plus abstracts and links to other journals. Very good for advertising and PR because the indexing is quite fine making it possible to easily search for different aspects of the subject.

• Emerald 

The full-text of thousands of articles from more than 100 peer-reviewed journals published by Emerald. Subjects covered include health and safety, management, human resources, marketing and training – will often have engineering related articles as well.  Best results found if you do an advanced search this where you can choose to search for just case studies or literature reviews.

Emerald is very strong in marketing management. All journals are from the same publisher. Best results found if you do an advanced search. There you can also choose to search just for case studies or literature reviews. Click on Journal of the Week for free weekly access to two of Emerald's journals.

ScienceDirect's extensive and unique full text database covers authoritative titles from the core scientific literature, published by Elsevier. More than 2,500 journals and more than nine million full-text articles are available in ScienceDirect providing access to the physical sciences and engineering life sciences. This resource is also available through the Discovery service. A Library Guide is available.

In spite of its name, this database has thousands of articles on business and management topics

Specialist database with articles, research reports and case studies plus a lot of media, adspend and adcost data and some general socio-demographic and economic data. Click through to Publishers site for full-text. Leading weekly magazine covering global political, economic and business news. Includes archive back to 1997. On Campus use only (or use VPN or Web Proxy when away from the University

Access todays FT and the archive back to 2004. Find up to date business and commercial news, global financial markets, company and industrial sector information. Explore data on companies. markets and investments including charts and research tools.
