Breastfeeding pod in Library Area 2B on the second floor with an orange shelving trolley stood to one side

We are delighted to be able to offer a breastfeeding pod to all nursing mothers, available on the second floor of the Library. This new facility seeks to support new parents who prefer not to breastfeed in public by providing a safe and comfortable private space for breastfeeding and expressing milk, making it easier for everyone to combine work, study and motherhood and helping promote equality of opportunity across our diverse community.

While we fully support any nursing mothers who prefer to breastfeed their babies in public and appreciate the challenges inherent in booking a pod in anticipation of your baby becoming hungry, these pods offer a private space for any new mothers who feel the need for privacy that is available and accessible whenever the Library is open.

You can find the pods on the:

  • second (top) floor of the University Library in Area 2B (up the wooden stairs from the Atrium, towards the rear of the building)
  • fifth floor of Richmond Building

How to book a pod

Easier to do than describe: book a slot to use the pod in your Outlook calendar, during which you will be given the key code to access the room. Full details are available on MyPort and on the signs on the outside of each pod.
