Person using a computer

Update 11 July 2025 (3 pm)

The network upgrade work has been successfully completed.  All services and facilities should now return to normal, including access to the Library Wi-Fi network and all computers.

Thank you for your patience while we carried out this vital work. If you continue to experience any difficulties connecting to our Wi-Fi network or using computing facilities in the Library , please speak with a Library IT Helper in the first instance.  If you have any other difficulties, please let us know.

The Library computer network is undergoing an extensive upgrade this summer between 30 June - 13 July.  Most Library services and facilities will continue as normal during this period but desktop computers and Wi-Fi access will only be available in some parts of the Library building and there will be a few changes to how some services are offered.

Signage around the building will help direct and remind you of these temporary service changes and you can ask any member of staff if you have any questions or concerns.

Here's a summary of the changes you can expect:

Computer and Wi-Fi availability

  • Wi-Fi and desktop computers will continue to be available in Areas 0A, 0B, 1B, and 2B.
  • A limited number of networked workstations will also be available in the Postgraduate Study Room.
  • In all other areas of the Library, there will be no network access and no or very limited WiFi access.
  • You are welcome to study in these spaces.

Access to books

  • You will need to ask staff to fetch books with classmarks 346.422 - 351.8 from the shelves using our Click & Collect Service. These bookshelves will be temporarily inaccessible.

Bookable study spaces

  • Most group study rooms on the first and second floors will continue to be available for booking.
  • You will need to book online or on the door because the room booking kiosk will be temporarily unavailable.
  • The bookable Meeting Room 0.12 will be temporarily unavailable.

Kiosks

  • The Temporary Pass Kiosk may be available in the foyer.  If not, you can always request a temporary day pass and sign in at the Reception Desk.
  • Only one self-service kiosk will be available on the far side of the Atrium from the ones you may be used to using.
  • You will be able to book group study rooms online or on the door but the room booking kiosk in the Atrium will be temporarily unavailable.
