Accessible formats
If you are print-impaired and need your reading materials in an alternative format, we can assist with this. However, it can be a lengthy process if we have to create them, so the sooner we start the better. The document supply services use a copyright exception known as ‘fair-dealing’, which has strict limits but if you have a disability you may be entitled to additional services, such as an RNIB Bookshare account.
If you think you are likely to need your resources in an alternative format please contact us as early as possible so we can advise on timescales and qualifying disabilities.
Chapters/articles from University of Portsmouth stock which are requested via the document delivery service all have optical character recognition (OCR) as standard, so are compatible with all modern screen-readers. If you use our interlibrary loans service most other libraries will provide the same levels of accessibility, but we can not guarantee this.
