Sage Catalyst recently updated the links to their ebooks. This means that until we have updated the links to Sage Catalyst ebooks in the Library catalogue and reading lists, these ebooks are unavailable. Our Metadata Team are working industriously to update all our catalogue links as quickly as possible, but there will be a short delay until all these ebooks are available again.
Many of our Sage Catalyst ebooks are also available as print books you can read in the Library and borrow. Search the Library catalogue for any books you want and select the "Printed books" filter on the left of your search results to view only print books held in our collection.
If you cannot access any Library eresource, please ask a member of library staff in person or using our online chat service.
We have been receiving enquiries from clients trying to access "Visible bodies" who have encountered a paywall when trying to log in.

We hope you are enjoying using the new Ebook Central Reader app to read your ebooks. Built by the same people as the Ebook Central platform, the new app and Ebook Central are designed to work seamlessly together, offering an improved experience over the old app.
If you have not already done so, you just need to download the app and link it to your Ebook Central account to get started. Any ebooks you already downloaded on your device will still be available.
We recommend at least reading the quick start guide below before attempting to register your new Ebook Central Reader app. You can also watch a short video and sign up for an online training session:
You can find more help and guidance on the Library blog. Library staff are also here in person and online to offer guidance and answer any questions you might have.
We regret that Rhino House is temporarily unavailable. This has been identified as a supplier-side problem. We hope this service will be resolved soon.
PressReader is refusing to allow some clients to log in, presenting them with a sign in error at the point they would ordinarily expect to log in. We are working with the supplier to restore normal access. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Many of our newspapers are available in searchable scanned image format from other newspaper archives, while the full-text content (without images, formatting or layout) for most global news outlets from the 1980s to the present day is available from Nexis Uni (until late October 2025) and Global Newstream.
Portsmouth Public Libraries are also free to join and offer access to a wide selection of digital magazines through their independent PressReader subscription.
These known problems have now been resolved. If you experience any ongoing difficulties, please let us know.
