Business & Management - Finding Articles

Our Discovery Service allows you to find lots of journal articles all in one place. Sometimes however, you may need to use a specific database or journal.
This page lists the major databases that you have access to, as well as key journals.

There is also a News Services section and you should consider using one or more of these resources to keep up-to-date with the business world.

You can use sophisticated search options and filters to find the most relevant research on your topic.

• Emerald

More than 2,500 journals and more than nine million full-text articles are available in ScienceDirect providing access to the physical sciences and engineering life sciences. This resource is also available through the Discovery service. A Library Guide is available.

This database also has thousands of articles on business management topics. Journals titles available include the Journal of Business Research and Journal of International Management.

• Scopus not in Discovery

Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature: scientific journals, books and conference proceedings. Delivering a comprehensive overview of the world's research output in the fields of science, technology, medicine, social sciences, and arts and humanities. Scopus features smart tools to track, analyze and visualize research.

Web of Science – part of the Web of Knowledge collection of databases – consists of a number of databases containing information gathered from thousands of scholarly journals, books, book series, reports and conferences. Three citation databases (Science Citation Index Expanded (1970-), Social Sciences Citation Index and Arts (1975-) and Humanities Citation Index (1975-)) also contain the references cited by the authors of the articles. You can use these references to do cited reference searching, allowing you to find articles that cite a previously published work. Conference Proceedings Citation Index – Science includes the published literature of the most significant conferences, symposia, seminars, colloquia, workshops, and conventions in a wide range of scientific disciplines.

A guide to this resource can be found at: https://library.port.ac.uk/guides/docs/LG592.pdf

The strength of this database is the use of "Cited Reference Search" which enables you to find out more recent articles that have included a known article as a reference.
