Help with IT Issues
If you encounter problems using online resources first check our News & Problems page for issues we are aware of. Whenever possible we will suggest a work-around. If the Library is given advance notice of service outages, we will note them here. Information Services provide a similar list of more general issues (e.g. networking problems) on their Service Status Page.
People often experience problems with their userid or password - under 'Useful links' you'll find pages on how to deal with login problems for both your university account and various online resources.
The computers in the Library are managed by Information Services. A number of IS staff are based in the Library - just go to our IT Help Desk and they'll be happy to help. If you're not in the Library, or working outside our staffed service hours Information Services has a comprehensive FAQ list where you will find answers to common questions as well as guides and information on service availability.
If you can't find a solution to your problem, and you think the issue is related to a Library service (e.g. the Library Catalogue, databases etc.) you can phone us on +44 (0)23 9284 3228 or email library@port.ac.uk.
If you think the issue is related to your computer or the network, please contact Information Services on +44 (0)23 9284 7777 (or use the Contact IT Support page).
Note: if you are off campus you will need to contact your service provider for help with network problems.
