Students and staff can copy, print and scan documents from A4 to A0 size in the University Library, subject to copyright restrictions. Visitors may scan documents up to A0 size and save the results to a USB memory stick or email them to themselves.
General Scanning
As a student or member of staff, your University printing account allows you to copy, scan and print using the multi-functional devices found near the IT Help Desk on the ground floor of the Library. Scanning is a free service.
On the first floor of the Library, there are a further two A4 scanners and one A3 scanner connected to neighbouring desktop computers. Log into one of these computers to use the attached scanner.
Whichever device you use, you can save or email memory stick images of documents you have scanned as JPEG images or PDF files.

Scanners in the library
A3 scanners are available beside the concrete stairwell on the ground floor. Scanners are simple to use and instructions can be found close by. Please ask any number of Staff if you need any assistance.
Large format scanning up to A0 size is available from the Map Library on the first floor. The large format scanning service for images larger than A3 size is managed by Library staff. Please consult our Map Library staff for details and bring a memory stick and the document you wish scanned.
Large format scanning
The Map Library on the first floor offers a free scanning service by appointment for documents up to A0 size. Please contact the Library in advance to arrange an appointment and bring a USB memory stick on which to save the scanned image or PDF file. It is only possible to save large format scans to your USB memory stick; they cannot be shared in any other way.
Scanning service for visitors
Visitors can request a login and password from the IT Help Desk on the ground floor of the Library that allows them to use the multi-functional devices there to scan documents. Scanned documents may be saved to a USB memory stick or emailed as JPEG images or PDF documents.
Please ask at the IT Help Desk for further information and advice.
