Engineering (Mechanical & Design) - Introduction

Your subject page aims to guide you to high quality information as quickly as possible.

We recommend the following steps:

1. Start with what your lecturers advise

a. Your lecturers have produced reading lists which are an essential starting point when looking for information for any assignment. Check our Reading List Database to see what is available for your course.

b. Many of our books are in electronic book (ebook) format and you can find them on the catalogue.  Either use the search widget and select 'Catalogue' or go to our ebooks page and select one of our collections.  Ebook Central is the largest and within the collections you can search the full text of their ebooks.

2. If you need to go further ...

a. Use our Discovery Service for Technology to locate relevant books, e-books, articles, reports and more - all in one search.

b. Focus on some specific ways to find articles which your lecturers may have recommended.  Use this keywords guide to get the best results from your searches.

 3. Still not found enough?

Perhaps you need government sources, statistics, TV programmes or images. Have a look at these highly recommended sources which are not necessarily subject specific.

4. Support for researchers.

Our "Support for Researchers" pages include reference management tools and searching for information sections that may be useful for academic and research staff. We also have specialist topic areas which are relevant to all academic and research staff, along with many PhD students, and those who want to dive a little deeper into their research.
