Scanning

General Scanning

There are two A4 scanners on the ground floor. Scanners on the ground floor are not connected to a workstation - these are standalone devices which can save a scanned document to a memory stick as either .jpg or .pdf files. These scanners will also let you email the scanned item. These scanners do not require you to login and so can be used by visitors.

There are two A4 scanners and one A3 scanner on the first floor. These are connected to a workstation.

Large Format Scanning

A Large Format Scanning Service is based in the Map Library on the first floor of the University Library and enables you to obtain professional quality scans of original material.

Originals will usually be scanned at 300 dpi in 24-bit colour and saved as a JPEG. Scans can be made at other resolutions and saved in other formats, including TIFF.

The service is fully managed by Library staff, so just bring your material to be scanned and a USB flash memory on which to save the file.
