Referencing is a vital part of your academic studies and research at University of Portsmouth. See https://library.port.ac.uk/w683.html for more on why you need to be concerned about plagiarism and referencing.
The Library is here to help you with referencing in the following ways:
Cite Them Right
Cite Them Right will show you how to reference a multitude of source types in several different reference styles. It gives details of the information you need to collect and provides examples of both in-text citations and what a reference should look like. It also guides you through constructing an accurate reference for the source you want to cite. There are also tutorials on the basics of referencing to help you get started.
Use this if you are a University of Portsmouth student on any course requiring APA 7, OSCOLA, Vancouver or Chicago. If your lecturer mentions "Harvard" or “Harvard APA" they mean APA 7.
These are the questions we get asked most often when it comes to citing and referencing your work. Still can't find an answer then chat to us for help.
- APA 7th including specific guidance on incorporating figures (images) and tables into your assignment?
ONLY use this if you are a full-time Masters student who is finishing your course in October 2020 or if you have been told to continue using APA 6 by your lecturer.
This is the University of Portsmouth’s former referencing assistance site. It only covers APA6 and will be withdrawn at the end of the year.
