Boylan, Danny (2019) An analysis of game-to-film adaptations and audience response. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth

Abstract

Movie adaptations of video games have historically had a negative review in both the media and with commercial success. This study utilises hundreds of public reviews for three movie adaptations of video game titans.
Using a research method known as Text Mining, this study provides trends and outliers based on the user responses that can then be used to make decisions when creating movie adaptations of video games.
Through the case study and analysis sections of this study, these trends have been explored to highlight particular areas that users and moviegoers enjoyed and did not enjoy.
