McGhee-Lusty, Dennis (2019) How will education benefit from voice technology in mobile apps. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth

Abstract

This dissertation explores the potential benefits voice technology in mobile apps possesses and how it can positively affect education. This study investigates in great detail the general position of voice technology in regards to its history, opportunities and threats. Research into the current market resulted in the understanding of the lack of products being created in this area. The competitive edge to the artefact is a key focus and is what may push this project forward. The introduction of an alternative learning method may determine the overall success of this project. The alternative learning method will be tested through the artefact being created, this being a prototype for an educational mobile game that has a key focus on voice technology. The testing in this project helped to create a strong prototype design as well as establish a key finding surrounding the chosen topic. The results showing that 60% of participants envision a future for mobile games in education and 80% supporting the proposed alternative learning method.
