Betts, Freya (2019) Industry animation processes and how the pipeline produces quality animation for film. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
The dissertation contains the exploration of the processes practiced for animation in industry to understand the reasoning behind these methods and the effect they have on the quality of the animation produced. It collects various literature sources about the animation potion of a pipeline’s elements. The points raised are then supported and expanded through primary research carried out to form the basis of an artefact that is an imitation of process carried out in industry. This artefact allows for observations made during this process to be evaluated against the information found in the literature and demonstrated the effect on animation quality throughout the process visually. This artefact was then validated through a survey to ensure its relevancy to the dissertation title. The overall observations from the artefact and the research performed formed the conclusion supporting that the processes in industry have been developed to produce a high quality of animation while using efficient stages in the process.
