Dranfield, Jack (2019) An examination and investigation of sound design for theatre. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
This dissertation aims to identify and examine the techniques, theories and ideas of Sound Designers for theatre and the aspects and roles which fall under this title. Particular attention is paid to the creation of sonic elements, reacting to an environment and technologies utilised by modern sound designers and how the well known practitioners such as Konstantin Stanislavski and Bertolt Brecht’s theories can be applied to theatre sound design. Through extensive research, many techniques, theories and ideologies have been collated and finally applied to a proof of concept.
