Bourn, Jany (2019) How can the use of popular JavaScript and CSS frameworks change the way in which websites are designed and developed when compared to familiar, traditional, hand coded methods. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth

Abstract

This project showcases the learning and subsequent use of JavaScript and CSS frameworks Bootstrap, Angular.JS and React.JS, chosen based on an employability survey, and how they can aid in the development of front end websites/applications, and the benefits they present over traditional development methods, (standard HTML/CSS/JavaScript). The learning and implementation of the frameworks will be conducted through the recreation of key aspects of an existing website to limit the need for original content creation, and provide a dependent variable from which comparisons can be made about the initial implementation of each framework and its core components as well as key similarities and differences. The primary aim of the project is to learn and understand how to implement and use each of the frameworks, and where they would be best implemented in future web development scenarios, with the objective of recreating key aspects of an existing site.
