Fletcher, Lewis (2019) Creating a companion AI for the University of Portsmouth AAA Project. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
Artificial Intelligence for a flying character for the University of Portsmouth Games Technology “Triple A” project using Unreal Engine 4 and the C++ programming language. The character is intended as a personal companion to the player. The agent must be able to navigate the game world in three dimensions, and should interact with the player and the environment in an intelligent and coherent manner. The project must be structured in such a way that it can be easily integrated with the existing project, thus emphasis must be placed on reusable code. Areas of special interest include appropriate positioning, pathfinding, steering and action selection.
