Griffin, Liam (2019) Creation of modular level kit for AAA Game Project. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth

Abstract

Creation of a Modular level kit for a Museum building in a AAA Sci-Fi game in development by students at the University of Portsmouth. The modular level kit made is placed in the latest developed version of the game’s Unreal Engine file including a handover of all source files needed to create and import the content into UE4. The use of the created content is to build up the game level as well as demonstrate how to use the parts in the intended blocked out space for the museum scene. The work has been evaluated by the client via progression point meetings in development to mould the content created into what they envisioned to have in their game. It also covers the research I undertook to use professional techniques that have been put into practice to implement modular level kits for AAA game titles. The development progression is documented in this report and reflected on from client’s feedback. The method in creating the kit for this project was by splitting up the museum’s areas into individual monthly tasks. The client, who is the course leader of my degree, both proposed and provided the project with its requirements which were then discussed and agreed upon with me.
