Ferris, Matthew (2019) Is new media more effective than traditional media for advertising?. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth

Abstract

With New Media on the rise and Traditional Media seeming to be falling in audience numbers and customers, is New Media now better at advertising than Traditional Media?
Looking into the statistics of media types within both New and Traditional media it is found that New Media figures are on the rise and have a considerable return on investment along with an ever-growing audience to sell products to. However Traditional Media is struggling with some of its mediums and the figures show how 1 billion pounds has been lost in revenue over the last few years.
With research carried out through a questionnaire, a group of participants answer how long they have been using each media type for the week and where they find adverts the most noticeable. From this data and the literature review a conclusion that New Media seems to be the most effective for marketing a product due to findings which show the number of hours spent using New Media and how people react to seeing these adverts.
