Johns, Matthew (2019) Can modern animation be effectively used to enhance and expand upon existing historical media and forms of creative expression?. (unpublished BA dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth

Abstract

A two minute animated project, combined with report, exploring how poetry of the past can be enhanced and presented anew to modern audiences through the process of combining them with modern animated 2D imagery. The project focuses on the First World War as its theme, studying various pieces of poetry from the era and considering how best their stories could be told in the form of a new animation. This project aims to achieve this by creating an animation that is a new and unique piece of media, whilst also accurately portraying the piece of poetry it uses as its source material.
