Page, Micahel (2019) An exploration into current motion graphic and video marketing trends. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth

Abstract

The increase popularity of video content online has meant marketers have a powerful tool at their disposal when reaching consumers. Motion graphics play an important part in this, which is why it has been decided to produce a series of six motion graphic idents as part of this project.
The aim of this study is to see firstly, how motion graphics have shaped the campaigns brands produce today, whilst also discovering what makes a successful video in today’s marketing landscape. This new reliance on video and motion graphics will then be further explored through a client project: the production of a series of motion graphic videos promoting a Christian course run  by Cheam Baptist Church. The research topic is examined and answered through secondary research, as well as primary research, consisting of an online survey and an email interview with Director of Blueprint Film, Darren Bolton.
From the study, it is clear to see how influential video content is in the world of advertising and the artefact created helps to demonstrate this. They are also a successful means of promoting the course, with respondents indicating that the designs are highly engaging.
