Hopper, Myles (2019) Stickmen: unconventional uses of audio in media. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
This project aims to provide a method for using audio in modern media by making it the only means of establishing context, implication and attitude of scenes and characters in a structured story. The story is told in two versions: a physical book with a CD containing a structured mix, and an interactive storybook with audio mechanics developed in Unity. It looks into the history of audio in media and attempts to define a new method of storytelling. Success of this is measured by audience reactions and how effectively the artefact portrays the story to unknowing viewers.
