Shelton, Rogan (2019) Client brief: to create a Rhamphorhynchus and animate it for launch. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth

Abstract

This is a client-based project to rig a fully functional Rhamphorhynchus and animate it to demonstrate the launch sequence for this Pterosaur. The final animation may be used for educational and entertainment purposes. In this project I extensively researched the extinct species. The comparative attributes of the fossils researched and the various iterations, was reflected on the creation of the Rhamphorhynchus. Investigations were carried out to compare the appropriateness of the methodology of the approach to this work. I used a variety of 3D software packages to address different aspects of this work. There were various problems and situations were encountered during this project, and eventually overcome, either by alternative solutions or re-examining the techniques. Unfortunately, and disappointingly part of the final outcome was not as good as expected.
