Constable, Ryan (2019) To what extent has American broadcast advertising influenced British broadcast advertising. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
This project is an in-depth look into the differences and similarities between American and British broadcast advertising, and in particular, to what extent the latter is influenced by the former. Primary research was conducted through viewing various advertisements on both sides of the comparison, followed closely by research into secondary data. Although my initial hypothesis was that American broadcast advertising had influenced its British counterpart greatly, as I read further into the topic I found that this was not strictly the case. Many points within this project argue the two countries, while having some similarities, remain for the most part, very different. I felt by the end the conclusion I came to was very similar, and within the project there is enough information for each side of the argument as well as additional reading, for others to draw their own conclusion.
