Luke, Sarah (2019) How does the stigmatisation of abortion affect women across societies?. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth

Abstract

The project is a combined study and an artefact about the stigmatisation that pregnant women face when it comes to getting an abortion. The approaches that are looked at where mainly religion, feminism and politics as these three themes widely correlate with abortion. This project contains both primary and secondary research that looks at videos, books, articles and forums and surveys to understand the oppression that women go through for wanting an abortion. To film the short film, a JVC1500 was used. This camera was the best to use as it was important to get a camera that had a mic attached to it. To edit the footage, premiere was used. The summary of the project showed that the stigmatisation of abortion, and delegalizing abortion would lead to women getting unsafe, illegal abortions which will may harm her, or even kill her. The short film demonstrates that getting quick ways to abort your baby would just lead to women getting hurt, or dying.
