Khanom, Taslima (2019) The impact of aesthetics in web user interface design on consumers. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
Online consumers and e-commerce’s face a significant visual aesthetic difficulty for web user interfaces. Research has shown that consumers form visual aesthetic opinions on web user interfaces based around judgments of the website. This study aims to determine how important commercial web user interfaces are aesthetically pleasing to consumers and the relations to visuals. User interfaces are defined to be the interaction between a human and a computer.
Findings from the review of the literature on aesthetics and theoretical reasoning behind web based user interfaces, two online questionnaires were conducted for female students. Respondents analysed aspects of the current Miss Selfridge website and the new implemented site. Analysis of the responses found many visually issues with the current site. The results stipulate that aesthetics in relations to web interfaces does have an impact on the consumer. It is also recommended that user interfaces should use responsiveness to form full capacity of targeting consumer. Further research is required to identify other major factors to strengthen user interfaces
