Abstract
St Vincent and the Grenadines is a tropical chain of islands located in the southern Caribbean, it comprises of the main island St Vincent and a chain of 32 smaller Grenadine islands. St Vincent and the Grenadines, though a small island to some, has proven itself on the world stage by breaking the record as the smallest country to hold a seat as a non-permanent member, on the United Nations’ security council. The country’s educational revolution states no child left behind, every child will have an opportunity that is consistent with his or her skills and ability. This gives purpose to this study to discover the various strategies used to ensure inclusive education for all, which would positively impact a holistic development for children with SEND. This study was explored using semi-structured interviews that focus on how St Vincent and the Grenadines inclusion policies are implemented for children 5-11 with SEND. The research established that the inclusion policy is in draft form, some mainstream schools are better able to cater for children with SEN, parents are aware of their children's needs and questions whether mainstream schools are capable of catering to their children needs. The dissertation highlighted the importance of the various professionals involved who play a vital role in ensuring education is inclusive. Concluding that the SEND policy is in its draft stage, this offers the education department the flexibility to make adjustments where necessary to be better able to provide an inclusive approach to education.
