Luzi, Robert (2019) Using the case study of Libya, can Humanitarian Intervention ever be considered a force for good?. (unpublished BA dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
In this dissertation I will explore whether humanitarian intervention can be successful using Libya as a case study. With in depth analysis of the emergence of R2P and focusing on the Libyan intervention. This will be combined with examples of other interventions both successful and unsuccessful along with the views of both realist and liberal IR scholars I have concluded that Intervention can be considered a force for good. However, to avoid a similar scenario to Libya countries must be in it for the long run and not be distracted by National interests, as well as reaching a broad consensus with more sceptical BRIC nations and groups on the ground to achieve success.
