Abstract

The rise of streaming in music and video has fundamentally changed the way the entertainment industry works and how consumers view media. Recently technological advancements and investments from Google and Amazon have reinvigorated interest in cloud gaming which threatens to do a similar thing to the video game industry. The aim of this report is to determine the effects clod gaming may have on the video game market by looking at current trends in the industry and consumers opinions of these services. The results suggest audience do not currently see a need to invest in the services limiting its overall possible effect. From a business standpoint there are fundamental challenges which is going to make the move to streaming more difficult that other media beforehand including fundamental problems in business models and high price of operating in the cloud.
