Shanahan, Joel (2021) Investigations into the role of a Houdini TD. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
The current study will analyse the role of a Houdini Technical Director (TD) to greater understand the industry and use research to find the key components and skills required in this role. The overall purpose of this project is to help the transition to my master’s degree next academic year with the University of Portsmouth. The research and findings identified in this report will aid my academic and personal progression; allowing me to curate a more suitable skillset and portfolio for industry. To complement the report, it will be accompanied by an artefact with its purpose being to serve as a way to explore said role in a practical manner. The artefact will be a video presentation dictating research and practise of a TD’s role within Houdini.
By using this project to analyse the role I wish to do as a career, I will be providing myself with informed knowledge of the industry. This information will help inform me where I currently stand compared to other industry professionals – allowing for aims and objectives to be set which will in turn will be used in the ensuing master’s degree. These aims and objectives will help meet the same standards as other successful TD’s. Research will also involve the comparison of said role to other similar to it – further justifying why this role is more suited to my skillset.
These results will be used to reflect on key findings, subsequently allowing a further understanding to how this master’s degree can be used to really benefit my development.
