Abstract

As an expanding form of technology, Virtual Reality has integrated itself into modern-day society. It has anchored itself as a revolutionary technology within many industries. A subject that is often underlooked is the therapeutic use of Virtual Reality within healthcare. This research aims to give an insight into how Virtual Reality can be an essential and monumental piece of technology to Pain Management therapies. It seeks to explore the current practical uses of Virtual Reality in managing pain, assessing the effectiveness and applicability of the practices. The research also covers the implications and costs of implementing Virtual Reality as a therapy, discussing current and future trends. An investigation involving an audience with a medical background will look to provide results to view the knowledge and opinions that society has on Virtual Reality and its medical uses. The project goal is to provide an overview of the applicability Virtual Reality can become the main practice to managing physical pain.
