Brzuchalski, Mikolaj (2021) Using procedural content generation for uncertainty in game level design. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
A qualitative study using secondary data, analysing how procedural content generation can be used to support uncertainty types through a case study of a commercial game, focusing specifically how levels and game spaces are constructed. Through a discussion of the different uncertainty types based on previous work by Costikyan, a set of guidelines are constructed to be considered when creating procedural level generators and these form a basis for future research into procedural content generation techniques or as a guide for game developers.
