Nikolakos, Alexander (2021) RPG Vertical Slice. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth

Abstract

In this project, I explore the tools and methods used to create a playable RPG game and the process of creating the assets that will be used.
In this report, I will cover many of the specific features implemented into the game demo, how they function and why they were used. Furthermore, it will cover some of the testing, trialling and iteration processes for more complex features. This Demo will feature custom made assets, a playable character that was created, a landscape with foliage, volumetric graphics effects, basic lighting, implementing character animations, setting up an enemy AI NPC, creating the combat system, quest system and any other special techniques used throughout development.
