Abstract

Learning a foreign language has become increasingly more important, especially for young children. There have studies that has support the idea that children can acquire language better than adults, for example Johnson & Newport (1989), it is vital that this critical period is utilised properly for enhanced language acquisition. With more Interactive media can offer an enhanced learning environment that could potentially improve primary aged student’s language acquisition through increasing student’s motivation and making classrooms more engaging. In this paper, the researcher investigates the effectiveness of interactive media for primary aged students’ language acquisition. The results were that whilst interactive media could be effective in increasing students’ motivation, there is no significant improvement (if not worse) in language acquisition. Therefore, a blended method of teaching is recommended for the best learning outcome.
