Weyman, Alfie (2021) Plastic waste short film. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
The Artefact I produced in alignment with this report set out to visualise the issues we are facing with regards to our plastic consumption, and what happens when single-use plastic is wrongly disposed of. The nature of this artefact was primarily a social action film, and used themes of irony and light comedy to put into perspective just how easily our decisions can impact the wildlife and environment. I took a more dramatised approach with this, contrasting the conventional social action film style and through my pre-production research, found this to be the most captivating film format for my target demographic, being daily consumers of plastic, ages eighteen to twenty four, and those that are interested in making a change. The results of this research, paired with some consideration into managing to portray my message in the right way, began the production of this film. One that I am heavily proud to present.
