Abstract

This research project consists of a 2000-word translation of an extract from Manuela Carmena’s book ‘A los que vienen’, which was published in 2019. The extract is about Greta Thunberg’s actions for the environment, youth activism and climate crisis. The translation is from Spanish into British English, thus the aim of this translation was to provide UK citizens and people familiar with the British English language with the accurate target text. The translation is accompanied by a 3000-word commentary outlining the translation challenges. It includes matters such as target audience, text skopos, genre, text type, cultural issues and other difficulties encountered when translating the source text. The translation choices are supported by numerous theories, as well as a range of literature and parallel texts that were used to combat the challenges within the process of translating the source text.
