Abstract

This report documents the steps involved in the research and creation of 3D environmental modular assets, for a client, Matthew Higgins, a lecturer at the University of Portsmouth. The assets of a 1950’s hotel lobby and adjoining restaurant were created in Blender, textured in Substance Painter and handed over to the client for them to implement in their game first person 1950’s noir detective game in Unreal Engine 4.
This report documents the production of these assets along with research undertaken in how best to work with a client, the methodologies considered for use in the project as well as the technologies that could be used. Research was also under taken into similar industry examples in order to learn how modular asset packs work and made in order replicate their techniques in the creation of modular environment assets in this project. This also covers progress and feedback meetings and messages with the client.
