Morris, Luke (2022) The ease of input: accessibility in modern fighting games. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth

Abstract

This study aims to approach the topic of input accessibility systems in the genre of fighting games by analysing the accessibility systems present in modern video games. The study will then take this information alongside an understanding and explanation of the input system in one particular fighting game to construct a survey to ask a range of skill levels on how they perceive easier input methods. The study then uses these results to land on the conclusion that a player’s controller and skill dictates primarily how they formulate opinions on and interact with accessibility measures in fighting games.
