Townson, Eloise (2022) Prototyping a female safety application by using the UX Design Process. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
The overall aim of this project is to create a prototype for a female safety application based on user research using the UX design process. The objective and aim of this project is to create a prototype that will help females feel safer when they are walking about at night alone.
From the primary research, an analysis was made and ideas were formed from the responses. These responses then shaped the final prototype’s look and features. Overall from the findings, it was concluded that preventative measures would be beneficial for a female safety app as including the information would help females to prepare and learn useful knowledge for what to do if attacked.
Following the completion of the prototype user testing was carried out which proved to be successful based on the results. Two methods were used to carry out the testing which not only helped to see what worked well but it also helped to find potential further development opportunities such as increasing advertising.
