Abstract
This report will be narrate and discuss the goals, issues and outcomes surrounding the project 'A Remedy for Isolation'. This project is a 15 minute participatory documentary aiming to create a debate and discussion about the practical benefits of virtual reality to individuals mental health especially around times of isolation and lockdown. There are many references to the coronavirus pandemic and the negative health implications implied to the public through the forced lockdowns by governments throughout 2020 and 2021. This project has used already existing literature regarding the link between virtual reality, mental health and isolation to establish an idea of what professionals in the area are already thinking, whilst this project has added to that discussion by utilising focus groups, interviews and questionnaires to document how people felt through isolation and how they felt their virtual reality devices helped them. The goal of this project, is to educate the viewer on the link between virtual reality and mental health, to potentially prompt future research into the link between the two.
