Sritecha, Gamondech (2022) Investigating the potential of using VR exergames as a motivational tool to overcome psychological barriers of exercise. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the positive and negative effects of using virtual reality as an exergame and to find out whether it is possible to overcome the psychological barriers users experience that prevent them from exercising. Data was collected from gamers’ perspective and a pattern was discovered that games did not have to be classed or marketed as exergames for users to personally classify them as one. The potential of exergames, specifically VR exergames, to replace traditional forms of exercise entirely was discussed.
