Stefkova, Marketa (2023) Challenges of managing multicultural teams in the global workplace: a comparison between Spain and Central Europe. (unpublished BA dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth

Abstract

This research project aims to provide a comparative critical analysis of cultural values and behaviours in multicultural teams in the global workplace. Three case studies (KnapStefaniuk and Burkiewicz, 2021; Pérez-Cañado and García, 2007; Dunkel and Meierewert, 2004) with a focus on multicultural companies assessing employees' cultural and intercultural awareness towards their managers and colleagues were analysed throughout this research project. And therefore, it aims to answer the following research question: Has any progress been made since the beginning of 2000 in the way companies treat their multicultural employees? How are Spanish employees viewed by their international colleagues according to their behaviours and values? The author will draw from existing case studies and literature in this field. This project will demonstrate the overall progress that has been made throughout the years, 2004 until 2021. Presently, we have more information about the differences among multicultural teams. Managers and employees are more confident about how to treat their colleagues.
