Abstract

This project consists of a translation and commentary of a section of the webcomic Homestuck. The final product is both a playable version of the game in French, and a full transcript of text possibilities. The commentary features a pretranslation analysis, focusing on providing context to understand the excerpt and analysing genre and medium, domestication and localisation challenges. The posttranslation analysis features specific discussion of methods used to address challenges regarding translation of imperative second person commands, culturally specific items (CSIs), and maintenance of register.
