Peachey, Liam (2023) Virtual Production In film, and how modern technology can be used to create mixed media film, and the barriers which can inhibit independent artists.. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
Clarence Pier is a mixed media virtual production film made in the Centre for Creative and immersive Extended Reality in partnership with Aspex art gallery and external artist Karanjit Panesar. This dissertation identifies the various technologies within virtual production and creates both a timeline for innovation within the technology but also breaks down the variety of options for each alongside price comparisons. This dissertation highlights the issues independent artists have when attempting to gain access to this technology, as well as breaking down the approach to making a film of this calibre with an independent artist and identifies strengths and weaknesses with the project in an attempt to create a clear framework for future projects to benefit from this one.
