Abstract
This project examines the process of creating a short film inspired by The Upside Down in Stranger Things. It will focus on the use of visual effects, storytelling techniques, mood, and lighting to recreate the eerie and unsettling nature of The Upside Down. This dissertation will go through the initial planning of the project, followed by a description of the technical aspects involved in the production. The aim of this project is to gather insight into the way visual effect shots are created in the industry. It will discuss the challenges encountered and the solutions used to overcome them. Some challenges include lighting, camera placement and rendering issues. Feedback will then be gathered and evaluated at the end that will inform on what went well or the improvements that can be made in the future.
