Rajapakse, Panduka (2023) Exploring how to create digital doubles using photogrammetry and metahuman pipelines. (unpublished BA dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
During February 2021 developers of the Unreal Engine announced their new Metahuman Creator platform which enabled users to create fully rigged and highly detailed digital characters for free. The aim of this project was to investigate the effectiveness of these digital character creation tools to create an accurate likeness of my client for immersive projects utilising motion capture. As these metahumans were recently released, it was important to learn if they were compatible with mocap data, how customizable they were and if they weren’t too time consuming to create.
