Macheri, Isaac Wogali (2023) Film production for augmented realities (AR). (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
Cinematic AR experiences share a lot in common with Cinematic Virtual reality as they both take away the traditional tools and techniques used in film making to guide the viewers' attention to the story, and introduces a new dimension of what is possible in storytelling and immersive experiences. This manuscript reviews documents written on various extended realities to identify techniques, tools and methods that were implemented to archive cinematic storytelling and film in extended realities. The aim for this study is to explore, examine, implement and test the availability of tools for Augmented Reality film makers, best practices for creating cinematic AR films and shows the drawbacks and strengths of AR Technologies and also suggest possible improvements to the technology for cinematic AR films and performances. This will be done through the creation of a short musical performance that will be used as a test subject.
